Supporting and encouraging youth choir ministry in North Carolina churches by offering worship and discipleship through performance opportunities, musical development and leadership development while striving for excellence in musicianship, resulting in changed lives.

2018 Information
Those selected for the North Carolina Baptist All-State Youth Choir (ASYC) are invited to participate in a week-long retreat and tour scheduled for July 15-22, 2018. The choir presents concerts and is involved in missions projects throughout the week.  

The 2018 concert locations are still in the process of being booked. Please check this web page again in spring of 2018. Concerts are free and open to the public (general seating, no tickets or prior registration needed to attend).

Auditioning Information
Students new to All-State Youth Choir must currently be in grades 9 through 12 and audition for the opportunity to be part of the choir. Auditions for 2018 are scheduled for the first two Saturdays of February (the 3rd and the 10th) at several churches across the state. Audition information is available in the Downloads section below. Listed below are the audition locations. Audition times will be assigned between 9am-12 noon. Auditions on February 10 at only Wingate University in Wingate, NC, might be in the afternoon.

We prefer all new students to audition on the dates and locations listed above. However, we are providing a make-up date should a new student miss the above opportunities. To audition on the date listed below, please email [email protected]

Once a student has auditioned, a final selection will be made based on the points received from the audition and the TWO recommendation forms. If a student meets the qualifications, the student receives an official invitation to join the ASYC (near March 15th). 

Acceptance
Once a student new to All-State has auditioned, a final selection will be made based on the points received from the audition and two recommendation forms that the student has submitted. If a student meets the qualifications, the student receives an official invitation to join the ASYC (near March 15th). 

APPLICATION FOR NEW STUDENTS

RETURNING STUDENTS
All students who have been accepted into a previous year ASYC tour (2017, 2016, or 2015) are invited to apply for 2018. Please check your calendar to make sure you will be available for the 2018 tour dates: July 15-22, 2018. If a family has more than one returning student applying, please fill out the form for each student individually. If you are a student NEW to ASYC, please do not apply with the returning student form but use the New Student Application.

APPLICATION FOR RETURNING STUDENTS

FOR NEW AND RETURNING STUDENTS:
All students will pay the $10 Application Fee. Then, in late March or early April, students will be told when to pay a deposit towards their tour Participation Fee,
and this will officially reserve their spot in the choir. The deposit is half of the full fee. A completed, notarized Health Form will also be required, or the student cannot go on the tour. A completed Student Info Form, with photo, will also be required. Specific dates for returning these items will be given to the students, and the forms will be sent to them and made available online as well.

Cost
$10 Application Fee
--increases to $20 after January 26 for New Students
--increases to $20 after February 2 for Returning Students
Tour Participation Fee:
  $500 per student from Baptist State Convention of NC (BSCNC) churches
  $640 per student from non-BSCNC churches

The Participation Fee includes tour lodging, tour meals, bus travel during the tour, three shirts, a packet of music shipped to each student, a tour booklet / packet, family group and whole group tour photos, and a CD recorded live the last night of the tour. TO APPLY ... All Returning and New Students must do the following:

  1. Fill out an application. Click on the orange "application" button above to apply online. Only one student can apply per form. To register a sibling, please start a new form.
  2. Pay. You can pay online when you fill out the application, or you can mail a check. The early-bird fee is $10 if application is received online or postmarked on or before the due date. After the due date, the application fee increases to $20.
  3. Submit two completed recommendation forms. See Downloads section below for a PDF that you can print. 

Please note that refunds of fees may not be made except for events canceled by the Worship & Music Department of the Baptist State Convention.

Important Note: All correspondence to students, their parents, and Ministers of Music is by EMAIL. Participants, please make sure the Worship & Music office has your current, working email ... one that is checked OFTEN!
