Coats for the City
Collection at Annual Meeting - Nov. 6-7th, 2017
December 2, 2017 - Distribution Date
Metropolitan New York Baptist Association (MNYBA)
New York City, NY
Coats for the City shares the love of Jesus by providing warm coats and the gospel to residents of New York City each December. N.C. Baptists have partnered with the Metropolitan New York Baptist Association (MNYBA) in this effort for eight years.
By working with church planters all across New York, our goal is to collect and distribute 10,000 coats this year, along with a Bible or Jesus film in the recipient's language. To do this we need your help.
Your church can get involved by promoting Coats for the City to your congregation, recruiting volunteers to help with coat distribution in New York and praying that Coats for the City would open the door for the gospel to be shared with those who are not yet believers in Jesus Christ.
We need churches to collect new or gently used coats from now through September. The collected coats must be sorted into heavy duty lawn bags according to three styles: men, women and children. We will be collecting coats at Annual Meeting in Greensboro, N.C. beginning the afternoon of November 6th through the evening of November 7th in the exhibit area.
We also request that individuals donate $2 for every coat they donate to help cover the cost of Bibles and Jesus films. The donation is not required, but would help greatly.
We would love to have you come and assist with the distribution of the coats in New York on Saturday, Dec. 2, however, at this time we have enough volunteers. Room for 40 volunteers to stay at the MNYBA is available, but teams can arrange other housing, if needed. Volunteers are responsible for their own transportation and lodging costs.
