Milton A. Hollifield, Jr. was elected as the fourteenth Executive Director-Treasurer of the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina on April 11, 2006.
 
He was born in Marion, N.C., on May 3, 1950. As the son of a minister, he grew up in the western North Carolina town of Swannanoa and is married to the former Gloria Sullins of Black Mountain. Milton and Gloria are the parents of one son, Judson, who lives with his wife Jamie and son Stewart in Asheville, N.C. They are the grandparents of Stewart and Avery Hollifield.
 
Rev. Hollifield received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Mars Hill College in 1977 and a Master of Divinity degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Forth Worth, Texas, in 1980.
 
Since 1998 Milton served as Executive Leader for the Mission Growth Evangelism Group of the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina. In relating to the North American Mission Board, he served as State Evangelism Director and State Missions Director for North Carolina.
 
Hollifield's first pastorate was West Shady Grove Baptist Church in Blue Ridge, Texas, while in seminary at Southwestern Seminary. Upon his return to North Carolina he served as Associate Pastor of West Asheville Baptist Church, Asheville until 1982.  From 1982-1991 he was pastor of First Baptist Church, Stanley. After a fruitful nine and one-half years pastorate with First Baptist, Gaston Baptist Association called him as Executive Director of Missions. In 1993, the General Board of the Baptist State Convention elected him as Director for Evangelism Division.
 
As the Executive Director-Treasurer for the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina, Rev. Hollifield's vision for North Carolina Baptists is that by God's grace, the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina will become the strongest force in the history of this Convention for reaching people with the message of the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.
