Leadership communities are one way for pastors to dialogue about leadership, culture and other topics influencing pastors today. These regional groups host conference calls, speakers and workshops. Tom Lamkin, Associational Missionary for the Sandhills Association, formed a leadership community for small churches and said this about the experience: "These pastors sense that, for the first time, someone is directing a learning journey that directly relates to what they're doing. It's not a big generic program from which they have to screen out something that may work for them. This is not a one-shot deal...They see themselves as being supported on a long-term basis. We're sharing this together, we've got a lot of commonality, and we're going to see each other grow."
