Guillermo Soriano began his work as multicultural evangelism specialist consultant in the evangelism and church growth team in March 2007. His primary responsibility is to assist churches, associations and networks to become more effective in the cross-cultural outreach of all people groups of North Carolina to Christ. He works to accomplish a statewide strategy in evangelism and church growth according to the goals of the evangelism and church growth team and the Evangelization Group while ministering with all multicultural people groups, including Anglos. This main task is done by providing consultations and field service through the leadership of associations, local churches, college/university campuses and geographical areas experiencing growth in the ethnic population.
Before joining the BSCNC, Guillermo served in Florida as state department director of language church growth and development for the Florida Baptist State Convention; as a pastor in Orlando; and as adjunct professor in the extension centers of New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and Baptist College of Florida. He has also served as pastor, evangelist and church planter in Fort Worth, Texas, and Honduras, Central America. He has been an evangelist and equipper of church leadership in 17 other states and has participated in missionary trips to share the gospel in Honduras during the last 26 years. He entered a personal relationship with the Lord in 1973 while in Louisiana and has been on mission for Christ’s Kingdom since 1975.
Guillermo earned his industrial engineering degree from Louisiana Tech University. He worked in the industry and as a business owner for 10 years. His theological education was completed at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, focusing on evangelism and missions. He was born in Honduras and has been married to Maritza for 31 years. God blessed them with two sons: Jafet, 30, and Jonathan, 24. Jafet completed a master’s degree in structural engineering in 2006 at Stanford University in California and works in Orlando, Fla.
