Lester serves with the BSCNC as team leader of Associational Partnerships, and his responsibilities include working with 78 associations in North Carolina, general seminary extension, bivocational ministries, Appalachian Regional Ministry (NAMB), demographics, ministry partnership agreements, On Mission Celebrations, and church and community ministers.
Lester has served as a pastor in five Baptist churches in North Carolina. For 13 years he served as director of missions for Macon Baptist Association. He has also participated in mission and ministry projects from the local to international levels, worked with local community action agencies in order to address pressing needs, and served as a coach and consultant for various ministry needs.
He became a Christian in 1971 and received God’s call into ministry in early 1972. He received degrees from Mars Hill University, Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.
Lester is married to Judy and they have two daughters. Jessica, their oldest, is moderately handicapped and has Down’s syndrome, and now lives at the Younce House, an assisted-living group home in Franklin, N.C. Their younger daughter, Tanya, lives in Winston-Salem, N.C., and is a Crime Scene Investigator with the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Department. Lester and Judy live in Otto in Macon County, where they both grew up.
