Steve Harris serves as the Strategy Coordinator in the Blue Ridge area of Asheville. He has most recently finished his ministry as founding pastor of New Life Community Church in Asheville where he served for sixteen years. He has been leading church planting movements in the Buncombe Baptist Association, nationally and internationally as a Strategy Coordinator with the International Mission Board, starting churches with the Quechua Indians in the Andes mountains of Peru. He also served as Associate Pastor at Bent Creek Baptist Church in Asheville, Fellowship in the Pass in Beaumont, CA and as pastor of Parkview Baptist Church in Morehead City, NC.
Steve received his B.S. in Business Management from Western Carolina University, Masters of Divinity degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas and his Doctor of Ministry Degree from Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, California.
Steve's wife Ann is a full time field representative with the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association in the TV/Telephone ministry. They have two sons, Luke Harris, Austin and his wife Julianna, one daughter, Lindsey Mills and her husband Casey and three grandchildren, Stephen, Ayden, and Sawyer.
Steve's life verse is thegreat commandment and his passionate focus is simply loving God and loving people. He enjoys backpacking (having hiked the Appalachian Trail), trout fishing and golf.
