For all of the talk about the simplicity of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the modern church seems anything but simple. Debates rage about the essential doctrines of the Christian faith – or if there are any remaining cardinal doctrines which are certain remain as such just five years from now. Just when the worship wars die down, arguments ensue around church polity, church planting and the ever-present debate over evangelism and the sovereignty of God.
And perhaps nowhere are the raging debates more fierce than in the denomination known as the Southern Baptist Convention. Most Southern Baptist leaders concede that transition is in the air, and something is happening among the next generation. Outside influences are infiltrating the Southern Baptist Convention and changing it from the inside out – so much so that many wonder what the end result will be – even if there will be a Southern Baptist Convention. Small, but growing affinities and networks are taking root and growing. One of the most prominent among them is the Acts 29 Network.
This edition of the InSight Podcast seeks to example some of the pastors, theology and methodology of the Acts29 Network.
