Bible Drill is open to students in grades 4-12. These pages provide curriculum interpretation and information to assist pastors, staff and volunteers to lead Bible Drill in a local congregation. For information on how to register as a participating Bible Drill church, and a description of the two Bibles and translations approved by the BSCNC for use with Bible Drill, scroll down the page.

The Ministry Resources page is an overview of resources and drill dates and locations for this year. Downloads for all age levels are available and registration forms for state drills may be downloaded and mailed or e-mailed to pbills@ncbaptist.org

Psalm 119:11 tells us to hide God’s word in our hearts, so we might not sin against him. When God’s word dwells in our hearts we are better able to mediate on his promises and his character and to flee from temptation. Children and youth must learn that scripture is consequential to their lives. Children and youth cannot grow in their relationship with the Lord without memorizing scripture and learning to treasure God’s word. Bible Drill participants develop skills in locating Bible books and key passages, memorize the names of the books of the Bible in order, memorize the verses and key passages, and develop skills in the proper handling of the Bible.

Bible Drill is one way to help children, and their family, get excited about reading the Bible. Bible Drill is open to students in grades 4-12.

Children’s Bible Drill is for children in grades 4-6. Children’s Bible Drill is made up of three cycles (Red, Blue and Green) which rotate during a three-year period. Children should use the current cycle resources distributed by LifeWay Christian Resources and the BSCNC Bible Drill Ministry.

Youth Bible Drill is for youth in grades 7-9. Youth Bible Drill is made up of three numbered cycles which rotate during a three-year period. Youth should use the current cycle resources distributed by the BSCNC Bible Drill Ministry.

High School Bible Drill is for youth in grades 10-12. High school students may participate in either/both the Speakers’ Tournament and High School Bible Drill. High School Bible Drills helps youth study and trust God’s Word as they grow in Christian maturity, memorize verses about salvation and basic biblical beliefs, and develop confidence and poise in speaking the truths of the Bible. High School Bible Drill is made up of three numbered cycles which rotate during a three-year period using the current cycle resources distributed by the BSCNC Bible Drill Ministry.

Register As a Bible Drill Church
Once your church decides to participate in Bible Drill, register your group to receive updates and materials needed for participation in the NC State Bible Drills. Please provide the BSCNC Bible Drill Ministry Coordinator at the Baptist State Convention with the Bible Drill leader’s name and address, church and association name, and the Bible translation your group will use. Also, giving the same information, notify your association, in writing, of your intent to participate in Bible Drills.

Each church must use approved Drill Bibles:
The Holman King James Version Drill Bibles are available from LifeWay Christian Resources or LifeWay Christian Stores. The International Bible Society New International Version Worship Bible #172 is approved for NIV Bible drills. Order them from the International Bible Society at http://www.ibsdirect.com/ The Bible version choice must be made before Bible Drill training begins. All drillers from a given church must use the translation chosen by that church.
